Langston Galloway, the former NBA player, may have stepped away from the professional basketball league, but his recent experiences with the USA Select Team and Team USA have reignited his passion for the game. At 32 years old, Galloway had the opportunity to train alongside basketball legends like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Joel Embiid during a three-day camp.
“Playing with those guys, it’s a dream come true. It’s been an amazing experience,” Galloway said of his time with Team USA.
Galloway even got to showcase his skills against Serbia in an exhibition game, where he confidently sank a three-pointer. The thrill of being on the court with some of the best players in the world has motivated Galloway to pursue another shot at the NBA.
While Galloway’s last exhibition game with Team USA is approaching, he will not be joining the team for the Olympics. His recent stint playing overseas for Reggio Emilia in Italy, where he averaged 16.9 points per game, has shown that he still has what it takes to compete at a high level.
Despite going undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft, Galloway made his debut with the New York Knicks and quickly made a name for himself. In his rookie season, he earned a spot on the All-Rookie Second Team after posting impressive stats over 45 games.
Following his time with the Knicks, Galloway went on to play for six other NBA teams, including the New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Indiana Pacers. Throughout his career, Galloway has played in 452 NBA regular season games, with per-game averages of 8.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.
As he reflects on his journey in the NBA, Galloway remains hopeful and determined to once again lace up his sneakers and compete at the highest level. “I’m not done yet. I still have a lot left in the tank,” Galloway affirmed, eager for another opportunity to showcase his talents on the basketball court.
