The Demon Deacons of Wake Forest have been making strides under the leadership of head coach Steve Forbes. In the 2023-2024 season, they came close to making the NCAA tournament but fell short due to a weak out-of-conference record. However, this upcoming season looks promising for the team as they face a mix of challenging and winnable non-conference games.
“With the talent we have this year, we are confident that we can make a strong push for the Big Dance,” said Forbes.
One key aspect for Wake Forest will be their performance against in-conference opponents, as they aim to establish themselves as a top college basketball team in North Carolina.
“The competition within the state is fierce, but we are ready to show what we’re capable of,” added Forbes.
The team has undergone significant changes, with a number of players departing and new transfers coming in to fill the gaps. Players like Omaha Biliew, Ty-Laur Johnson, Davin Cosby, Tre’Von Spillers, and Churchill Abass are expected to make an impact and contribute to the team’s success.
“These transfers bring a mix of talent and experience that will be vital to our success this season,” noted Forbes.
In addition to the transfers, Wake Forest welcomes incoming freshman Juke Harris, a talented guard who is expected to make immediate contributions on the court.
“Harris has shown great potential and we are excited to see how he develops under our program,” said Forbes.
The team’s non-conference schedule presents a variety of challenges, with games against both easy and formidable opponents. Wins against tough teams like Michigan, Xavier, Texas A&M, and James Madison will be crucial in setting the tone for the season.
“We have to approach every game with a winning mindset, regardless of the opponent,” emphasized Forbes.
As the Deacons gear up for the season ahead, the goal remains clear – to secure a spot in the NCAA tournament and make a statement on the national stage.
“With the talent and determination we have, I firmly believe that this team has what it takes to compete at the highest level this season,” concluded Forbes.
