The upcoming NBA season has not even begun yet, but Draymond Green is already making headlines by seemingly picking fights.
“I’m here, I’ve been here for 13 years now,” Green emphatically responded to a reporter’s questioning, indicating his long tenure in the league.
“And if you’re going to be here every night,” the reporter remarked, alluding to Green’s past suspensions for on-court altercations.
“The guideline of getting suspended is something that’s in place because it’s a possibility,” Green acknowledged, acknowledging the consequences of his actions.
Looking back at the tumultuous 2023-24 season, Green faced multiple suspensions for his conduct. He received a five-game suspension for choking Rudy Gobert and an indefinite suspension that ultimately turned into a 12-game ban for striking Jusuf Nurkic. As a result, Green only played in 55 games last season.
With his history of on-court antics, there are concerns that Green’s behavior could pose a threat to his 13th year with the Golden State Warriors. The league seems to be taking into account his past unsportsmanlike actions when considering any potential disciplinary measures.
For the Warriors, who are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 46-36 season, it is crucial that Green avoids getting into trouble. The team will need him on the court as they aim to improve and make a deeper playoff run.
