As the NBA offseason ticks down, the roster spots on teams are slowly getting filled up. Only three teams have completely filled all their training camp spots, leaving nine teams with 14 or fewer players on standard contracts. With just about a month left before the season kicks off, these teams are looking to finalize their rosters.
According to the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, NBA teams are allowed to have up to 15 players on standard deals, but they must have at least 14 players on their regular-season roster. This leaves some room for flexibility when it comes to adding new players to the team.
On the flip side, there are 10 NBA teams that still have at least one two-way spot available, with three teams – Orlando, Brooklyn, and Cleveland – having two open minor league contracts ready to be filled. This opens up opportunities for players who are looking to make a name for themselves in the league.
While there are still some established veterans available on the market, there are also a number of young players who are still seeking a team. Recently released players like E.J. Liddell, Taevion Kinsey, Jaylin Galloway, and Leaky Black are looking for opportunities to prove themselves in the NBA. Among these youngsters are four recent draft picks who are still available – Quenten Post, Nikola Djurisic, and Luke Travers.
Nikola Djurisic is one of the unsigned draft picks from the 2024 draft. The 24-year-old, 7-foot center from Amsterdam made history by becoming the first Netherlands player to be drafted in 15 years when he was selected by Golden State with the No. 52 pick. Despite being traded multiple times on draft day, Djurisic is still looking for a team to call his own.
Quenten Post, another recent draft pick, spent five years in college before entering the NBA draft. The Amsterdam native played two seasons at Mississippi before transferring to Boston College for the remaining three years. Post made a name for himself in his senior year with the Eagles, earning the title of 2023 ACC Most Improved Player for his impressive shooting ability.
As the offseason winds down, these young players are hoping to secure a spot on an NBA team before the season begins. With roster spots still up for grabs, there is no shortage of opportunities for these talented individuals to showcase their skills on the court.
