As the 2024-2025 NBA season approaches, basketball fans eagerly await to see who will shine on the court as the premier shooting guards in the league. Just like in a previous article where the top point guards were evaluated, this edition will dissect and assess the top five shooting guards heading into the upcoming season.
Starting off the list at number five is Desmond Bane from the Memphis Grizzlies. Bane had a standout season in 2023, averaging an impressive 23.7 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.4 rebounds. Stepping up in the absence of Ja Morant, Bane proved his worth on the court despite the Grizzlies finishing with a 27-55 record, plagued by injuries.
Moving on to number four is the dynamic Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks. Irving, known for his exceptional ball-handling skills, averaged 25.6 points, 5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in the previous season. His ability to score from anywhere on the court, coupled with elite finishing at the rim, helped lead the Mavericks to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2011. Irving, now in his 14th season, continues to showcase why he is considered one of the best in the league.
In the number three spot is Donovan Mitchell from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Mitchell had a strong 2023-2024 season, averaging 26.6 points, 6.1 assists, and 5.1 rebounds. His explosive athleticism and scoring prowess make him a threat on the court, leading the Cavaliers to their first semi-final round appearance since 2018. Mitchell’s skills as a facilitator also shined, as he averaged a career-high six assists per game.
Stay tuned for the continuation of the top shooting guards heading into the 2024-2025 season in the next edition!
